French Antique Flax Spinning Wheel, Belle de Nuit

France, 1880’s, one of my most favorite discoveries, the French Antique Flax Spinning Wheel. You typically find smaller, thinner spindles, these are rare with wider fan-like wheels.

The aged wood is gorgeous on Belle de Nuit, coupled with the shape & pattern of the steel, its a piece of art that would look stunning on a wall.
Dimensions: 22″ Circumference

History Tidbit;
The wheel was used to spin flax into linen for use in textiles. Spinning is the act of drawing out a few fibers and twisting them together to form a yarn. The process predates written history, and was first done by hand and with sticks.
