The Unbroken Spirit, Cement Angel Statue
Walk down any European street and you will see beautiful angel statues, or chubby cheeked cherub faces carved over entryways and fountains. Angel artistry dates to early Christianity, through the Byzantine and Renaissance periods. It is one of the oldest and most loved themes to collect. Angels represent peace, love, and brings feelings of security and well-being.
Vintage Cement Statue, 1930’s. I saw this angel in a village shop outside Pairs, something about this statue was so endearing, I found myself coming back to it. Holding a rose, one wing broken, its stance captures strength in spirit.
